19th Century Election Results
Focusing on the issues at hand, the nineteenth century views were against abortion, against drug prohibition, against women's rights, and the general population except for the elitist were against eugenics. The most important factor that played a vital role in shaping the results of the nineteenth century is the fact that women were not allowed to vote yet. All the votes were from men, hence based on their views and ideologies. Therefore, the results of the nineteenth century are:
Charles Darwin
Evidently, Charles Darwin predominantly wins the nineteenth century election due to the exclusion of women during the voting process. Darwin's views correlate with society's perspective from the nineteenth century as he was against abortion, against women's rights, and against eugenics. Darwin was against abortion because he was against the idea of interfering with the evolution of mankind. Abortion would contradict Darwin's idea of survival of the fittest and reproducing in order to pass on the favorable traits to the next generation. Furthermore, Darwin openly states his inferior view of women compared to men which increases his popularity and support as only men were allowed to vote in the nineteenth century. Going back to the idea of interfering with evolution, Darwin would be against eugenics as well although his family were in favor of eugenics.
Eliza Burt Gamble
Eliza Burt Gamble lost the nineteenth century election by a landslide due to the lack of women voters. Furthermore, her views differed from society's perspective as she was pro-choice and for women's rights. As a woman, Gamble realized the importance of women's reproductive health. Though the views of the time was against abortion, Gamble believed in pro-choice. Moreover, as an activist of women's rights, she believed women deserved more importance, value, and rights. This notion contradicts the male chauvinistic view of the time.
Both candidates were in favor of drug prohibition which is against the popular belief of the nineteenth century, so the impact on the election results were trivial.
21st Century Election Results
The 21st century election results were drastically different from the 19th century election due to the change in social perspective. Another major factor was that women were allowed to vote in this election, therefore altering the results significantly. The 21st century views consisted of favoring abortion, promoting drug prohibition, improving women's rights, and still primarily against eugenics. Here are the results from the 21st century elections:
Charles Darwin
The biggest factor that helped factor that helped Darwin win the 19th century election by a landslide was his inferior view on women and the fact that women could not vote. However, this view impacts him negatively in the 21st century as women voted against him. Moreover, society as a whole became progressive in terms of women's rights which worked against him as well. In terms of abortion, his view differed from overall society as well which hurt him again.
Eliza Burt Gamble
Eliza Burt Gamble gained significantly more popularity compared to her 19th century polls because women were allowed to vote in the 21st century election. Also, since she was a women's activist, all the men and women in favor of women's rights voted for her. However, she went as far to claim that women were superior to men which cost her votes among the men. Moreover, in terms of abortion, her view fit with society's as both favored pro-choice. Therefore, Gamble gained more popularity than her previous election.
Both candidates were in favor of drug prohibition and against eugenics which fit the society's view so neither gained any advantage in those areas.
Although Darwin's views contradict society's views more than Gamble's, he still wins the 21st century election. The ignorant thinking among elitist and some men that men are more apt to rule a country than women helped Darwin's party. Also, Gamble's claims about women being superior to men cost her major votes among men. Finally, her pro-choice view on abortion repelled religious people, especially devote Christians. Therefore, the overall winner of the 21st century election was Charles Darwin.

Our Perspective
Ideally, as a group, we would want Eliza Burt Gamble to be a president compared to Charles Darwin. However, it is important for us to place ourselves in the 19th century and being brought up with those social values would push us towards voting for Charles Darwin. Focusing on the 21st century election, with the education that we have had, we are more likely to vote for Eliza Burt Gamble as her views synchronize with modern day society's views more than Darwin's.
